Spiritual Coalition on Climate Action in Nova Scotia
The Spiritual Coalition on Climate Action in Nova Scotia (SCOCANS) is dedicated to advocacy for the environmental and social justice.
Over 60% of Nova Scotians profess allegiance to a religion according to the 2021 Canadian census; this number does not include those practicing traditional indigenous spirituality or new spiritual groups.
While the Coalition does not claim to represent all members of these groups there is a strong focus on a just and sustainable future within all spiritual groups represented.
Goals

To support religious/spiritual organizations attempting to reduce their environmental footprint

To allow for exchange between participating groups regarding climate relevant efforts specific to their own faith/spiritual communities
03.
To encourage individual efforts to mitigate climate change, such as home energy efficiency upgrades and personal habits to conserve energy
04.
To inform the public of upcoming events supported by SCOCANS
05.
To provide information about climate related issues and resources available to help reduce our environmental footprint
